Our Company was originally established in early 1949 by our/my father, the late Mr. Hong Beng Teik, bearing the name “Beng Hin Chan”. It started as a cottage industry in Jalan Kampong Banggali, Butterworth, manufacturing candles. During the early days, the candles were distributed only in Penang and Southern Kedah, but eventually made inroads into the other states as our products became more popular. As the Company expended, the factory was relocated to Sungai Puyu, Butterworth in 1956, and during that period, production of candles was approximately 5 to 8 metric tons per month. In 1976, Beng Teong Trading was established to take over my late father’s business. The company started to export candles overseas and our production volume was subsequently converted to private limited company under the name style of Perniagaan Beng Teong Sdn. Bhd. However the former name was maintained because it had become well known to our domestic / overseas businesses associates.

Due to rapid expansion, in 1989 we formed another company known as Anglo Wax Industries Sdn. Bhd., which took over all the manufacturing activities and Perniagaan Beng Teong Sdn. Bhd., became the marketing arm for domestic market. Presently Anglo Wax production of candles is in range of 200 to 230 metric tons of candles every month, covering both domestic and foreign markets. We have successfully penetrated the foreign markets in U.K., Denmark, France, Mauritious, Madagascar, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji Islands, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and USA.
