In 1981, Mickey Chen established Kingmaker Footwear in Changhua, Taiwan. Over the past 35 years, Kingmaker has grown into a major footwear group and now is a public company, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (01170) under the name: Kingmaker Footwear Holdings, Ltd. The Kingmaker Group has factories in China, Vietnam and Cambodia and offices in Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong. Kingmaker is a major manufacturer for famous brands including : Asics, CAT, Clarks, Caterpillars, Fiona’s Prince, GH Bass, K1X and Skechers.

In 1988, Kingmaker opened its first factory in China (Zhuhai, Guangdong) and also opened its first office in Hong Kong. Kingmaker went public on the HKSE in 1994. Currently, Kingmaker’s factories have 10 assembly lines in China; 20 assembly lines in Vietnam; and, 10 assembly lines in Cambodia. In 2015, Kingmaker plans on opening a new facility in Quang Ngai, central Vietnam. This factory will have a capacity of 24 assembly lines. Today, the Group, including its subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Taiwan, the PRC, Vietnam and Cambodia, employ approximately 10,000 workers including over 200 expatriates worldwide. Total annual capacity of its factories is over is 23 million pairs per annum.
