Dandang Tea is produced by the Kartini Tea Company (currently called PT Kartini Teh Nasional) located in Pekalongan, Central Java. It began being marketed in 1957 with Wonogiri as the first marketing area. From Wonogiri, then expanded to Simo, Kulon Progo, and Kendal Kali Wungu.
In 1976, in connection with the holding of the Gajah Mungkur reservoir in Wonogiri, the government transferred three sub-districts to Sitiung, West Sumatra. Because of the love of the Wonogiri people for Teh Dandang, even though at that time there was no trance to Sumatra, Teh Dandang was sent by routine airplane until now.
PT Kartini Teh Nasional expanded marketing to Lampung under the brand ‘Merak Jago’. Starting in 2004, the brand ‘Dandang’ began to be marketed throughout Central Java and will be extended continuously throughout Indonesia.
